AIR
Airlines flying into the Balearic Islands include Iberia, Air Europa and Spanair.
Barcelona and Valencia are the mainland ports with the cheapest and most frequent
flights.
Charter flights also run to the islands but interisland flights are expensive.
Bus 17 on Mallorca runs from the airport to the centre of Palma.
On Ibiza regular buses run between the airport and the city.
TRAIN
Mallorca
There are two train lines on Mallorca. Both start from Placa Espanya. One goes
inland to Inca and the other to Soller (a good day excursion)
BOAT
Trasmediterranea (tel. 902 454645)
Runs from ports in Barcelona (tel. 93 2959000), Valencia (tel. 96 3676512), Palma
de Mallorca (tel. 971 405014), the port of Mao on Menorca (tel. 971 366050) and
Ibiza City (tel. 971 315100).
Routes include Valencia-Ibiza, Barcelona-Mao (9 hours), Barcelona-Ibiza city
(9.5 hours, 14.5 hours via Palma), Valencia-Palma (8.5 hours), Valencia-Ibiza
(7 hours), Palma-Ibiza (4.5 hours), Palma-Mao (6.5 hours)
In summer Trasmeditteranea operates faster services including:
Barcelona-Palma (4.5 hours), Valencia-Palma (6.25 hours), Valencia-Ibiza (3.25
hours) and Palma-Ibiza (2.25 hours).
Inter-island routes include Palma-Ibiza and Palma-Mao. Ibiza-Formentea (25 minutes
by fast ferry, 1 hour by regular ferry). 20-25 ferries arrive daily at La Savina
on the north-west coast of the island from Ibiza.

Operates from Valencia and Alicante to Sant Antoni, Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca
(via Ibiza).
Four daily ferries also run between Cituadella on Menorca (tel. 971 480012) and
Port d’Alcudia on Mallorca.
DRIVING
Driving is the best way to get around on the islands and for the drives along
the coast particularly along the north-west coast of Mallorca. There are numerous
rental agencies in Palma on Passeig Martim. Rental agencies on Ibiza are near
the tourist office at the habour.
If you’re driving on Mallorca the road to the port of
Sa Calobra is a bit hair raising. The trip to the northen tip
Cap Formentor is also amazing.
MOTORCYCLE

Motonline allows you to rent a bike throughout Europe and there are pickup and
drop off points around the country (for additional fees). Rentable bikes include
Ducati, Aprilia, Yamaha and BMW.
BIKING AND WALKING
This may be a cheaper, safer and healthier way to get around. Ask at your hotel
or hostel for the nearest places to rent good bikes or do walking tours. Check

top 20 walks.
Some good walks on Mallorca include the 3 hour return walk from Soller to the
village of Deia.
Formentera also has some good walking and cycling trails. Contact the tourist
