The best cafes are around Plaza Mayor but they are also more expensive and touristy as well.
Teahouses include Teteria de la Abuela, Calle del Espiritu Santo 19 (teas and crepes).
some of the best known cafes in the city include Gran Cafe de Gijon, El Espejo and El Gran Pabellon del Espejo.

There are numerous small shops and food produce on Gran Via. Supermarkets are fairly common in most areas of the city.

Most nightlife in Madrid centres around Santa Ana and Calle de las Huertas and the Malasana-Chueca zone north of Gran Via.
