There are four islands in this serene group, lying just off the east coast of Valencia in the beautiful Mediterranean. The islands are famous for their white sands, nightlife, Stone Age ruins, fishing villages, bushwalks, olive groves and orange orchards. And because of this can be plagued by hordes of tourists particularly between Easter and October.
The islands include Formentera, Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca and each offers something just a little different, and depending on your preference of activities there’s really something for everyone on one of the islands. For example Mallorca has spectacular mountains perfect for hiking or lovely beaches for some idle holidaying. Ibiza is renowned for clubbing while Menorca is quiet with isolated spots and old monuments to explore. Formentera is the smallest of the islands and very relaxed, the perfect place for a beach holiday.
