AIR Airlines flying into the Balearic Islands include Iberia, Air Europa, Vueling and Spanair. Barcelona and Valencia are the mainland ports with the cheapest and most frequent flights. Charter flights also run to the islands and there are plenty to choose from in summer. Most go to Palma de Mallorca and Ibiza. Easyjet also flies to the Balearics as does Air Berlin. Interisland flights are expensive. Palma de Mallorca Airport (Aerobus, www.emtpalma.es), Menorca Airport (www.etorres.net) and Ibiza Airport (www.ibizabus.es) have regular services to/from the airport into the centre of town. TRAIN Mallorca Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) operate two train routes across Mallorca and an underground metro service for Palma. All services start and terminate at the main station in Plaça de Espana, Palma. The two routes are: Palma – Marratxi – Inca – Sa Pobla
Palma – Marratxi – Inca – Manacor
The Ferrocarril de Sóller (www.trendesoller.com) operates a narrow gauge railway from Palma to Sóller. The station is next to the main station in Plaça de Espana, Palma de Mallorca. BOAT The main ferry company is Acciona Trasmediterranea (tel. 902 454645, www.trasmediterranea.es) and it runs from ports in Barcelona and Valencia to Ibiza City, Mao and Palma de Mallorca. Timetables and fares vary all the time. You can take a standard ferry, super ferry or high speed service which all take vehicles. For example from Barcelona to Mao services can take 4.5 hours or 9 hours on a catamaran or super ferry. Balearia (tel. 902 1601280, www.balearia.com) run between Barcelona and Denia to the islands. From Barcelona routes go to Palma, Alcudia (Mallorca) via Ciutadella (menorca), Mao and Sant Antoni (Ibiza). From Denia ferries go to Palma de Mallorca via Ibiza City. And to Sant Antoni or Ibiza City via Formentera. Iscomar (tel. 902 119129, www.iscomarferrys.com) has services from Barcelona to Palma, Ibiza and Mao. Or from Valencia to Palma or Denia to Ibiza, Ciutadella and Port d’Alcudia. Interisland routes also operate. For example Cape Balear (tel. 902 10 0444, www.capebalear.es) operates to Ciutadella from Cala Ratjada. BUS Urban buses operate on all of the islands. You can get route and timetable information from the main bus station in the centre of town and at local bus ss. The public transport is good in urbanised centres but less so in rural areas. See www.ibizabus.com for routes and details of buses across Ibiza and Formentera. Menorca Three bus operators run buses from the central station in Mahon around the island. The station is near Placa de Esplanada just off Calle de Vassallo. These include: TMSA (tel. 971 360475, www.tmsa.es) runs 6 buses between Mao and Ciutadella, Es Castell, Sant Lluis, Sant Climent, Es Migjorn Gran, Santo Tomas, Cala Galdana, Son Bou, Cala'n Porter, Canutells, Salgar, Binibeca and Punta Prima, as well as ferries to Cala Galdana. Torres Alles Autocares (tel. 971 386 461, www.e-torres.net) operates the Aerobus connection and two circular routes around Mahon which start and terminate at the bus station. A beach bus service is provided from Placa Colon in Ciutadella to various resorts around the island. Autos Fornells (tel. 686 939 246, www.autosfornells.com) services the north east of the island.

Palma de Mallorca Tourist Bus (www.mallorcatour.com) takes a route around the city with 16 ss, wher eyou can get on and off as many times as you like with the same ticket. The bus departs from Castell de Bellver and runs every 20 minutes. DRIVING Driving is the best way to get around on the islands and for the drives along the coast particularly along the north-west coast of Mallorca. There are numerous rental agencies in Palma on Passeig Martim. Rental agencies on Ibiza are near the tourist office at the habour. If you’re driving on Mallorca the road to the port of Sa Calobra is a bit hair raising. The trip to the northen tip Cap Formentor is also amazing. Check your hotel has parking provided.
