AIR
The nearest airport is in Seville with domestic and international flights. See the Seville guide for details. A municipal airport 9km away is mostly for private planes. You could also fly into Malaga or Granada and then travel by rail or car to Cordoba.

TRAIN
The station is 1km north west of Plaza de las Tendilas on Avenida de America. Cordoba is on the high speed rail link between Madrid and Seville and there are regular trains daily on this line. In fact the train is so fast that some people even day trip to Cordoba from Seville. You can also get to Malaga and the Costa del Sol from Cordoba. For Granada change at Bobadilla. Other routes go to Barcelona and Jaen. Bus 3 runs between the rail station and the city centre.

Rail information tel. 90-224-02-02
AVE schedules or information tel. 90-224-02-02
RENFE, Ronda de los Tejares 10, tel. 95-747-58-84, www.renfe.es

BUS
There are a number of bus terminals around Cordoba and you could arrive at any of them. If you’re departing you need to find which station the bus line is using.

Many buses leave from the Alsina Graells Sur station (tel. 95-727-81-00; www.alsinagraells.es) at Avenida de Medina Azahara 29 for destinations around Andalucia including Seville and Granada. For long distance destinations like Barcelona and coastal towns also leave from here but are operated by Bacoma tel. 957 456514.

However buses to Madrid leave from Camino de los Sastres 1 (cnr. Avenida de la Republica Argentina) and are run by Secorbus tel. 957 468040, www.socibus.es.

Another terminal is operated by Transportes Ureña (tel. 95-740-45-58, Av. de Cervantes 22) south of the train station.

Walking is the best way to get around the historic district but outlying areas will require bus travel. Useful routes into the historic centre include 1, 3 and 4. For bus information, call tel. 95-740-40-40.

TAXI

Typical fares in the city are € 3-5.

Radio Taxi (tel. 95-776-44-44) stands include:
Avenida del Gran Capitán
Plaza Colón
Plaza Tendillas
Calle Cañero
Calle Ciudad Jardín
Calle Arcos de la Frontera

HITCHING
Cordoba should be a relatively easy place to hitch from especially to places around Andalucia. Head to the roads leaving town.
For long journeys try the web-based ride sharing service at
http://www.europe.bugride.com

DRIVING
You won’t want to drive in the old town of Cordoba so you’re best to park outside or at one of the gates to the city. Parking is usually well indicated. Check to see if your hotel has parking, most charge per day.

Auto Europe
Hertz
Avis

Useful roads:
N-IV (E-5) – a toll free road you can take coming south from Madrid veer right at Bailén for Córdoba
N-IV (E-5) – also continues to Seville

MOTORCYCLE

The agencies listed above also have motorbikes for hire.

BIKING AND WALKING
This may be a cheaper, safer and healthier way to get around. The centre of Cordoba is small and it’s easy to find your way around and many streets are pedestrian only. Ask at your hotel or hostel for the nearest places to rent good bikes or do walking tours. Check out our tour pages for biking and walking holidays in Spain.

Alternatively consider taking a horse and carriage or coches de caballo for a ride around the Mezquita and Alcázar. S s are at Calle Torrijos and Campo Santo de los Mártires. Negotiate the price but they should be € 25 per hour.

TICKETS
Buy tickets for local buses on board from the conductor or from newsstands or the station in advance. For long distance journeys you need to buy the ticket from the station counter.
